An early-bird Phi Phi Islands day trip from Khao Lak: cruise by speedboat to iconic Maya Bay, swim the emerald water of Pileh Lagoon and snorkel reefs below towering limestone cliffs.
Join us for an unforgettable day on our early-bird trip to the Phi Phi Islands from Khao Lak. The Phi Phi archipelago is famed for picturesque beaches, towering limestone cliffs that rise straight from the sea, and vibrant coral reefs — all just a short speedboat trip away.
Phi Phi is also infamous for overcrowded boats and beaches, so to avoid the crowds we pick you up before dawn at your hotel in the Khao Lak area and transfer you to our private departure lounge at Royal Phuket Marina, where, capped at 32 guests, your speedboat to paradise awaits. This is the Phi Phi Islands by speedboat from Khao Lak the way it should be done — early, calm and uncrowded.
Serene Maya Bay and breathtaking Pileh Lagoon leapt into the global spotlight as filming locations for the movie The Beach. On this Maya Bay tour from Khao Lak we take you to Phi Phi Leh to see these iconic spots; a short walk through the forest brings you to the famous beach at Maya Bay, then you can jump into the warm emerald water of the astonishing Pileh Lagoon.
En route from Phi Phi Leh to Phi Phi Don we cruise past Viking Cave, famous for the bird's-nest trade and its cave paintings, and on to playful monkeys at Monkey Bay, best viewed from the boat. Phi Phi National Park teems with marine life, and your guide chooses the best spot to snorkel among colourful reef fish and the lackadaisical sea turtles that are a fan favourite. Please look but don't touch the coral or marine animals.
On Phi Phi Don we disembark at Tonsai village, where you can hike to the world-famous viewpoint, swim, relax on the beach or explore the lively walking streets. After Phi Phi Don we head to the white sand of Bamboo Island for a Thai lunch, with free time to swim or snorkel before the return to Royal Phuket Marina.

Exact timings flex with conditions and traffic — your guide sequences the stops to keep them calm rather than rushed. This is how the day usually runs.
We will pick you up between 4:00 and 4:30 AM, depending on the location of your hotel in Khao Lak. Yes, it is a very early start, but it is simply the best way to avoid the massive crowds that flock to the islands daily!

Coffee, tea, and a light breakfast await you after an approximately 90-minute transfer to our private departure lounge at The Royal Phuket Marina. Following breakfast, you will receive a short safety and tour briefing before departure. As the sun rises, embark on a short speedboat voyage to the Phi Phi Islands. The average transit time from the marina to the islands is around 45 minutes, depending on sea conditions. Some 27 marine mammal species live in Thai waters, so keep your eyes open on the way to the islands. You may see dolphins, false killer whales, pilot whales, or even one of the giants!
No Phi Phi Island adventure would be complete without a visit to world-renowned Maya Bay, made famous by the Leonardo Di Caprio movie The Beach. Disembark from the boat and follow a short nature trail to discover the iconic beach at Maya Bay, which undeniably ranks amongst the most beautiful vistas on Earth! After you capture the perfect picture, creating a memory that will last a lifetime, hop back aboard and cruise to another location on our itinerary.
Is this what Shangri La is supposed to look like? The producers of The Beach must have felt this way. Pileh Lagoon is one of the locations the filmmakers chose to captivate our hearts and open our minds to the possibility of a paradise on planet Earth. Plunge into the enchanting emerald waters at Pileh Lagoon, for what is truly a once-in-a-lifetime swim.

Sightseeing by boat, we will pass slowly by the historic Viking Cave. Best known for ancient wall paintings on the cavern walls and its current role in the swiftlet bird nest industry, this cave makes for a fascinating portrait of local culture and nature. The 400-year-old cave paintings, left by the crews of passing Chinese fishing vessels, are thought to resemble Viking ships, and why Viking Cave got its name.
At the aptly named Monkey Bay, you can view macaque monkeys in their natural habitat near the shoreline. Being wild animals, these mischievous acrobats are viewed best from the safety of our boat. Make sure that you have your camera on standby and ready to snap some shots of some of our closest relatives.
It is time to choose your adventure! Tonsai Bay is the beating heart of the Phi Phi Islands, so go ahead and use this time to do whatever pleases you. If you have been waiting to capture the iconic picture overlooking Tonsai Bay, join your guide on a 30 minute hike up to the iconic Phi Phi viewpoint! From atop this panoramic viewpoint, one begins to understand why this is heralded as one of the most spectacular photo opportunities in the nation if not the world! If hiking up to the viewpoint does not sound appealing, choose to walk around the village, check out the local shops, have a swim, or chill out on the beach.
Donne a mask, snorkel, and fins, and take the plunge! For many tourists visiting Thailand, exploring the tropical reefs is of paramount importance for them. A veritable plethora of fish, invertebrates, sea-faring mammals and reptiles are just waiting for you to spot within the Mu Ko Phi Phi National Marine Park. All of the colours of the rainbow are awaiting you beneath the surface! Please remember what SCUBA divers often say, take only pictures and leave only bubbles. We supply you with well-maintained snorkel equipment, which is more than adequate for almost everyone. If you are not a strong swimmer, we advise you to wear a life jacket in the water. If you are an experienced free diver, you will likely have brought your equipment on holiday. We welcome you to bring along your equipment onboard. We ask you to avoid touching anything while underwater. It is for your safety and the protection of the local wildlife. All of our speedboats are fitted with a freshwater spray nozzle near the stern to rinse yourself or your equipment off after the snorkel session. Please feel free to do so.

Bamboo Island is a beach lovers paradise! Hence, we chose this paradisiacal location for a picnic lunch on a white sand beach. After lunch, you will have lots of time to relax, soak up some sun rays, or cool yourself with a refreshing swim in the warm tropical waters of the South Andaman Sea. Please note that the ability to stop on Bamboo Island is subject to weather and sea conditions. Your safety is our primary concern. We may alter the itinerary if prevailing weather or sea conditions make disembarking on the island dangerous or unpleasant. If conditions do not allow us to stop at Bamboo Island, we will visit a restaurant for a delicious lunch buffet.
As your day at the islands draws to a close, it is time to say goodbye to this island paradise. The speedboat journey home is an opportunity to discuss the day's events with fellow passengers and newfound friends, or sit back, close your eyes, and relax. Please ensure that you have all of your possessions with on the speedboat before we depart the islands and again when you disembark at the Royal Phuket Marina.
After disembarking at the marina, we welcome you back to our private lounge. Our team of professional drivers will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Khao Lak. Please remember to use the restroom and ensure you have your belongings before you board the minibus. Depending on traffic conditions, we should have you back at your hotel in Khao Lak around 6 PM.
