Tourism here is still in its infancy; however, Khao Lak continues to retain its original rustic charm. Typical Thai family restaurants line the main street and it’s still possible to stroll through Khao Lak (La Own) in only 20 minutes and you will have seen everything. Originally people earned their income here from fishing, palm oil and rubber tree plantations, and before that the area was wealthy due to the tin mining industry, an important part of this area’s history.
