Temples

Definitely worth booking a trip on the spot. I must have gotten 1,000 Baths off. Ask not 1 but at least 3 agencies what they charge for a trip. Be bold or you'll pay the top price.

3 days Kaho Sok - so coooooooool :-)

Our 3-day trip (no printing error, I expressly rate the 3-day tour here!) to the rainforest led again (my Third party KhaoSok trip) Rolo - it was just nice again! The program was slightly changed (elephant riding is no longer - now it goes in water with the thick skins, very nice!). The weather was really good despite the rainy season, we were totally lucky with it. Rolo explained a lot again, gave insider tips - you can feel that the rainforest is his "second home". Sometimes you might think that Rolo knows every tree there by now :D Bathing with the elephants was very nice, you finally get really "on" the animals. You also get the impression that this is fun for the elephants - and: there are beautiful pictorial motifs! At the lake it was also absolutely beautiful again, there are new cabins to sleep in, there are now really thick mattresses in there. But the overall flair up there on the lake is breathtaking without changing. Should everyone have done it once, you always realize how little you sometimes need in life. We have seen animals many, many more than in the previous years. Wild elephants, rhino birds, monkeys, white-tailed eagles, varans, crooks - there were also animals to discover for the night trip. At Rock & Tree House it was also great again, the entire facility is a gem in its own right, who sees this for the first time and stands in front of it, first of all has this certain "wow effect" in which the rest of the world is faded out. Food was very good, there is always something to drink anyway (the guides of KhaoLakLandDiscovery (KLLD) always have boxes of drinks on ice!). Since we were there in the rainy season, the tours were not overbooked, so we then had a private tour with Rolo as a threesome. That was the icing on the cake, which made the tour especially valuable for us. Bad of course for KLLD that not so many people booked the trip. Dear readers: I can only recommend it to everyone - if KhaoSok, then definitely the 3 days with KLLD! I have now to the 2. Once done, before that there was the 2 day tour. You have a lot more time here with the 3 days and can enjoy all this and get involved. Since you spend a lot of time in the car and on the boat, you should really treat yourself to the 3 days - no one will regret it, I promise! Overall conclusion: for me (us) the really nicest excursion of KLLD (also very nice and recommended: Hong Island!), and the crazy thing is: we will book the 3 days next holiday in KhaoLak safely again, is just zuuuuuu beautiful! The booking with KLLD worked excellently, we have already booked this from Germany, as it is sometimes better to definitely get the desired nights (with good booking situation you can just be out of luck). The advice and scheduling at KLLD is top - there is absolutely no problem here if you want to postpone an excursion for any reason. At KLLD you also look at the weather forecast and then try to find the best package for you with the guest. Also with all other problems (for me it was travel sickness) you always fall on open and above all helpful ears in the office of KLLD (just past the traffic light left side facing north). At this point: lots of lovely greetings to Rolo (he did really great with a lot of love for things as always), to Lars and Paula from the KLLD office (totally nice and dear people who are absolutely attentive to the guests), it was 3 really nice days in the rainforest - a big THANK YOU to all of you from Annika & Co.:-)

Great day out bush

Yesterday my wife & I spent a day in & around Khlong Phanom National Park. We were picked up from The Sands Resort @ 8.30am welcomed by Rollo our guide for the day & headed north. Riding on the open top of a Misubishi Triton with bench seats & seat belts. Felt a little exposed to the elements but sometimes living a little on the edge like the locals do just has to be done.. Thankfully our driver was very capable. Wind in the hour with sunglasses on felt great. Make sure you have a good dose of sunscreen too. 1st stop was ~ an hour later at a canoe pick up point where we were canoed through the mangroves while we relaxed & took in the sights. On our journey we saw different kinds of birds & had pointed out to us the odd small snake sleeping in the trees. This took aprox. 30 minutes till we were ashore. Then it was a 5 min. walk to where we had a break resting under a shelter having tea & coffee provided. You could have cold bottled water or cola as well. Toilet facilities there also. Perhaps a small snack provided would have been a nice touch. Once rested we were driven from there to our place for an early lunch. Was in a tucked away place but was lovely (see pics) none the less giving us a chance to chat with a couple who were from Dresden Germany. We were then driven to Khlong Phanom National Park. It was there Rollo invited both my wife & I atop of the custom built Mitsubishi Triton double seat over the cab for best view. Once seat belted in away we went! Thankfully it was a nice slow trip along the solid track around up & down slopes. We stopped every now & then as Rollo showed us lizards from the trees, coaxing big spiders from their holes, viewing elephant tracks etc. Eventually we reached the spot where the Ton Tonmak waterfall was so we dismounted & walked down the tight track to it. It was a beautiful sight so many pics were taken. Back to the Triton up the hill. If you are coming on this trek make sure you have at least covered shoes with grip. Thongs won't cut it. It was the German couples turn to be in the top seat. A thunder shower appeared so it was a quick scramble to get the back ute cover up so all good. It didn't last long so then the cover was put away. Once we were out of the park it was time for home visiting a temple along the way. All in all a great day. If going you need to be prepared to rough it a little. Thanks Rollo, Eddy & co.!
