Minibus arrived punctually and we were escorted by Jake. The group were a mix of English and French and, though he was French, Jake spoke well and informatively in both languages. The trip down to the bay was reasonably comfy and then we got on to our longtail boat. Powered by a truck engine these are not quiet but we had an interesting trip round the mangroves before heading to James Bond island via a stop for a canoe trip. We got our touristy pictures and headed for lunch at the floating village. The lunch was superb.Back by boat to where the minibus was parked and then to a nature reserve to see the monkeys. They all seemed to be asleep but a little food enticed them out. We then moved to the temple. We weren’t allowed in as previous tourists had ruined it for everyone by visiting in bikinis etc, so a bit of a let down but hey…The day was hot and tiring but well worth it. Yes it is touristy but we got to see some of Thailand and some beautiful scenery. Jake and the driver (sorry I forget his name) were very attentive and looked after us well. Thank you. Back in time for tea and medals.

Unser Guide war eine bemerkenswerte Thailänderin, die Deutsch und Englisch fließend spricht: zeigte umfangreiches Wissen alles um die Tour herum betreffend, kümmerte sich verantwortungsvoll um jeden Teilnehmer, ging auf alle Wünsche ein, sehr organisiert, enthusiastisch und ehrlich. Tolles „Rock and Tree House Resort“ für die ÜN (schade, dass wir dort nur für eine Nacht waren!), hervorragendes Essen im Resort Restaurant 😊 Zum Programm: Leider darf man auf dem Fluss nicht selbst kayaken. Die Spaziergänge durch den Regenwald waren eher mäßig, da es sich lediglich um Sekundärwald handelte. Sehr gut gefallen hat uns die Fahrt auf dem Cheow Lan Lake mit seinen einzigartigen Karststeinformationen und der Karsthöhle mit den Fledermäusen. Leider ist der Khao Sok NP dort, wo man hinkommt, touristisch total überlaufen! Auf das vorbestellte Longtail-Boot mussten wir über eine Stunde warten, weil zu viele Touristen vor Ort waren. In der Karsthöhle waren viel zu viele Menschen.

Our guide, Som Chay, a German with a Thai name, impressed us with his knowledge, especially about Buddhism. But he has also been able to give a lot of information about Thailand and life in Thailand in general. This made the temple tours super interesting and very informative. Although I have been to different places in Thailand several times, I have learned a lot of new things because every question was addressed. The driver provided us with soft drinks regularly. Lunch at a beautiful vantage point with a view of Phang-nga Bay also rounded off the trip, although unfortunately it also rained a bit. This excursion can be recommended without restriction
