The route

How the day unfolds.

Exact timings flex with conditions and traffic — your guide sequences the stops to keep them calm rather than rushed. This is how the day usually runs.

01 Stop

Pick-up from your hotel in Khao Lak Area

Your friendly driver and guide will pick you up in a comfy air-conditioned minibus at around 8 am in front of your hotel lobby. The pick-up time may vary depending on the location of your hotel, but we confirm the exact time when you book.

02 Stop

Visit the Morning Market in Takua Pa

On the way to Khao Sok National Park, we make a short stop at the Takua Pa morning market. Markets such as this one are an integral part of the Thai economy, allowing local producers a place to sell the fruits of their labour. The adoption of the farm-to-table concept in the West may be trending these days, but it has always been the primary way that Thai people have shopped for fresh produce and fast food. You will have time to browse the stalls selling fresh produce, meats, seafood, and prepared dishes before we move on to Khao Sok.

03 Stop

Bathe with Asian Elephants

Ready for the introduction of a lifetime? It’s time to meet Asia’s largest land animals! We supply you with some of their favourite treats to feed them to break the ice. Then, after you become acquainted with the elephants, get ready to join them in the river for the ultimate elephant pool party! These gentle giants adore splashing around and having a blast in the water, so be sure to pack your swim clothes because you are in for a wet and wild time! A highlight for kids of all ages and sure to bring out the inner child in everyone! If you decide to stand on the river bank to take a few memorable photos, be cautious not to accidentally get sprayed by an elephant's trunk. It's a good idea to bring a waterproof case for your phone or camera if you want to get this close to the action!

04 Stop

Lunch at the Rock and Treehouse Resort

Khao Sok Day trip with Elephant Bathing

A Khao Lak Land Discovery exclusive and an experience in itself, we bring you to dine at the Rock and Treehouse Resort. Tour food can often taste less than stellar, but not today. Today, you will enjoy what could likely be the best food available on any tour in the province. Our highly skilled chefs will prepare a mouthwatering Thai lunch, sure to tease your tastebuds! With a towering limestone cliff as the backdrop to this restaurant oasis, the Rock and Treehouse offers more than just great food and amenities!

05 Stop

Canoe on the Sok River

Canoeing in Khao Sok National Park

Hop into a canoe and let your local paddle guide take you on a relaxing scenic cruise downriver, stopping mid-way for freshly brewed coffee in an eco-friendly wild bamboo cup. Karst mountains jutting out of the jungle canopy are a hallmark sight in Khao Sok but make for rugged terrain, which, combined with the density of the rainforest, make many areas nearll impassable by land. Canoeing the Sok River is the perfect way to navigate this mountainous region. Without the need to paddle yourself, you can focus on the lush vegetation that lines the river bank and the limestone cliffs that tower over the jungle canopy, keeping your hands free to capture perfect photographs. Many Khao Sok inhabitants are masters of camouflage and elusion, making them very difficult to spot. The knowledge of the local habitat and its inhabitants, which your guide possesses, is a fantastic resource you can tap to help you spot creatures that you might otherwise miss.

06 Stop

Visit the Monkeys at a Wat Tam Panturat Temple

While you may see a few species of primates while eating lunch or canoeing down the Sok River, you can get up close and personal with the resident monkeys at the Wat Tam Panturat Temple. The peaceful environment of the temple often attracts animals seeking refuge, including curious monkeys. However, monkeys are known to be collectors and may take your valuables, such as necklaces and bracelets. For this reason, we highly recommend leaving any such items in the minivan to avoid losing them to the monkeys' collections.

07 Stop

Return to your Hotel in the Khao Lak Area.

After visiting the monkeys, your driver and guide will return you to your hotel around 5 pm. Please ensure that you take your personal belongings with you when you exit the minibus. It is time to say farewell, and we hope to see you again soon.

08 Stop

Panoramic Khao Sok Viewpoint

During the drive to Khao Sok, we'll make a short stop to take in the view at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking an expansive valley, blanketed with lush green vegetation, amongst rugged limestone mountains.

Before you go.

What does the Khao Sok Day Trip include? +

The full-day tour includes round-trip hotel pickup in the Khao Lak area, a stop at the Takua Pa morning market, a panoramic Khao Sok viewpoint stop, elephant bathing in the river, a Thai lunch at the Rock and Treehouse Resort, a guided canoe trip on the Sok River, and a visit to the Wat Tam Panturat monkey temple. Everything is included — no hidden extras.

Where do you pick me up and what time does the day start? +

We collect you from your hotel lobby in the Khao Lak area at around 8 am in a comfortable air-conditioned minibus. The exact pickup time depends on your hotel location, which we confirm when you book. The tour returns to your hotel at approximately 5 pm.

Is the elephant bathing ethical and responsible? +

Yes. We partner only with camps that have moved away from riding and other exploitative practices. You interact with the elephants on foot — feeding them fruit and bathing alongside them in the river. This approach lets the elephants behave naturally while you enjoy a genuine, close-up experience. Your visit directly supports the cost of caring for the herd.

Is the tour suitable for children, families, and older guests? +

The Khao Sok Day Trip is intentionally low-impact and designed for all ages. The elephant bathing and canoe ride are relaxed activities, and the temple visit is a short, flat walk. Families with young children, senior travellers, and guests who prefer not to hike all enjoy this tour.

What should I bring and wear? +
  • Swimwear — you will get wet during the elephant bath.
  • A change of dry clothes.
  • Sun protection and insect repellent.
  • Waterproof case for your phone or camera if you plan to photograph the elephant bath up close.
  • Leave necklaces, bracelets, and loose valuables in the minivan before the monkey temple — the resident monkeys are opportunistic collectors!
What is the cancellation policy? +

This tour is non-refundable. We recommend booking only when you are confident of your dates. In the event of severe weather or national park closures that prevent the tour from running, we will offer an alternative date or a credit.

At / with the agency not again

Very ambivalent! We have booked the "3 days Khao Sok tree house and lake" (not listed here) for the price of 12,500BHT per person. Sounded very good in the prospectus and also in the advice. Unfortunately, the facts were quite different. First day with market visit to Takua Pa, elephant camp, visit to Wat Tam Panturat Temple, canoe trip in the wilderness of Sok River and overnight stay at Rock an Treehouse Resort with lunch and dinner just PERFECT! On the second day we continued to Cheow Land Stau-See. As the journey on the lake towards the Floss House grew, the impressive surrounding scenery became more and more positively impressed. The control of the raft house was still visually beautiful. Then followed the disillusionments: - The accommodations were simple (no objection to that), but if these "chambers" are then clearly dirty, in the sanitary area also mold was still present, the "enjoyment" stops suddenly. - The meals at lunch and dinner were largely identical, but in the evening there was another, let's call it "fried" fish, which was on its way to the Dörr fish in the processing by the chef (?). In the morning there was a frugal breakfast consisting of a slice of toast, a cold fried egg and 3 pineapple particles and two small melon slices. IT WAS NO LONGER THERE! - And for the use of the canoes in the lake "resort" we had to pay 200 BHT on site, which was not mentioned in the brochure and also the personal advice was not mentioned. - The stay was complemented by EXTREMELY unfriendly staff. We and also our 2 fellow travellers were happy when we went back to the starting point and we were able to establish for ourselves: - beautiful panorama - and having seen 3 wild elephants at dinner on one of the boat game drives, and were now away from the accommodation. The program of the third day was, not necessarily, to remember it. All points, such as simple accommodation on the lake and additional payment for the use of the canoes were then the subject of a letter to the agency / organizer. I was not concerned with any refunds due to poor performance(s). I just wanted information about how it could have happened,I received an answer which my questions answered only rudimentarily, at least with the realisation that the author of the answer (including our consultant) admitted that he had perhaps, possibly, not argued quite objectively in the tender. I then wrote to the author again with the request to go into the exact points and how the topic with the 200BHT is to watch. I'll wait until today for the answer. We did not realize our reaction in the form of "planned other additional booking" due to the experience and behavior of the agency at the agency.Worth mentioning is the good tour guide, the equally good driver and the vehicle used.

During our tour of Thailand we have taken many trips this trip was the highlight of our holiday. Starting with a local market then onto the elephant sanctuary. It was amazing to be amongst these wonderful animals who were wandering around with their owner unchained. Fed and washed them with our small group. Then on to monkey temple stopping at view points. Day 2 Long tail boat to diamond cave then an hour jungle walk followed by a coffee made by a camp fire and bamboo then a floating lunch and swim stop. The treetop resort is wonderful and monkeys joining you for breakfast. Food excellent and staff super friendly but the true star of this trip was Nuna a true professional kind, informative and funny an asset to the company thank you

It was a lovely experience and our guide was super knowledgable. He was open to questions about the temple and the culture and was overall very kind. The food at the restaurant was lovely with them catering for my gluten intolerance. Lastly, the elephants was amazing and seeing how well they are treated was a lovely experience.

10/10 trip. We enjoyed this activity from beginning to end. Our guide, Aris, was absolutely amazing. Aris explained everything in detail, talked openly about the local reality, and answered all of our questions. She truly cares about animals, and visiting the elephant sanctuary showed us that the elephants are very well taken care of. The driver made us feel completely safe throughout the trip. Sleeping in the tree house was a unique and unforgettable experience. The kayak rafting and jungle activities were spectacular as well. Visiting Khao Sok National Park and swimming in the lake with no other people around was absolutely worth it. Don’t hesitate to book this trip, it’s 100% worth it. Thank you again Aris❤️

This trip was truly excellent and we made memories that will stay with us forever. “Gift”, our guide, was exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the food market and canoeing on the river (our local guides were excellent, and pointed out monkeys, jungle frogs and tree snakes). We then had lunch at a stunning tree top resort and got to see two lively monkey groups at a temple. But the highlight of course was the visit to the elephant sanctuary. We got to feed and bathe the gentle giants - it was excellent and a really moving experience. The trip was faultless - thank you Gift!
