The route

How the day unfolds.

Exact timings flex with conditions and traffic — your guide sequences the stops to keep them calm rather than rushed. This is how the day usually runs.

01 Stop

Pick-up from your Hotel in Khao Lak Area

Your friendly driver and guide will pick you up in a comfy air-conditioned minibus at around 8 am, right in front of your hotel lobby.  The pick-up time may vary depending on where your hotel is located, but we'll confirm the exact time when you book.

02 Stop

Briefing

When visiting the elephants, visitors receive a briefing on the proper and ethical ways to interact with the elephants. In Thailand, the historical relationship between elephants and human beings dates back to the 12th century. This enduring connection created a rich tapestry of coexistence, symbiotic harmony, and historical significance. In modern times, many of the nation's elephants need a home and ethical tourism aids in the evolution of elephant welfare in the Kingdom of Thailand.

03 Stop

Feeding Your New Elephant Friends

Imagine the thrill of breaking the ice with the elephants by offering them delicious treats to eat! Just like us, elephants adore fruit! You'll receive a basket of fruit to hand-feed these amazing creatures and create unforgettable memories. Capture the perfect portrait of your new elephant friends during feeding time. It's the ideal opportunity to snap some amazing photos!

04 Stop

Jump in for an Elephant Bath

After you become acquainted with the elephants, get ready to join them in the river for the ultimate elephant pool party! These gentle giants absolutely adore splashing around and having a blast in the water, so make sure to pack your swim clothes because you're in for a wet and wild time!
If you decide to near the water's edge to take some memorable photos, be cautious not to accidentally get sprayed by the elephant's trunks. It's a good idea to bring a waterproof case for your phone or camera if you want to get close to the action!

05 Stop

Parting in such sweet sorrow, it is time to say your goodbyes and farewells to your newfound elephantine friends. Our drivers will now return you to the hotel whence you came.

Before you go.

What does the Khao Lak Elephant Bath include? +

This half-day tour includes round-trip hotel transfer from the Khao Lak area, a briefing on ethical elephant interaction, fruit feeding with the elephants, and a riverside bath where you join the elephants in the water. Everything listed is included in the price — there are no compulsory extras on the day.

Is the elephant camp ethical and humane? +

Yes. We work exclusively with camps that have ended elephant riding and focus on the animals' welfare. The bathing takes place in a natural river environment supervised by the camp's mahouts. Your visit directly contributes to the ongoing costs of feeding and caring for the herd, helping fund the transition to more humane practices across Thailand.

What time is pickup and how long is the tour? +

We collect you from your hotel lobby in Khao Lak at approximately 8 am in a comfortable air-conditioned minibus. The tour is a half-day experience, typically returning by early afternoon — making it easy to pair with a beach afternoon or a second activity. We confirm the exact pickup time when you book based on your hotel location.

Will I get wet? +

Almost certainly — and that is the whole idea! Elephants love to splash and spray, and you are bathing alongside them rather than watching from the bank. Bring swimwear and a spare set of dry clothes. A waterproof phone or camera case is a worthwhile investment if you plan to capture close-up photos during the bath.

Is this suitable for young children and non-swimmers? +

Yes. The bathing takes place in a shallow section of the river supervised by the camp's mahouts, so non-swimmers can wade in comfortably. Children are typically the most enthusiastic participants — it is consistently one of the most memorable half-day activities in Khao Lak for families of all ages.

Erlebnis Tour Elefanten baden

Unsere Empfehlung!!! Lieben Gruß Marcus & Jutta

If you love elephants 👍

Overall a good day especially a great experience and time spent with the elephants. Unfortunately the tour was spoiled by the speeds at which the driver was travelling, very dangerous and scary (Over 100kph in a 50kph zone and regularly at around 130-140kph on the open road). We could constantly hear the ‘Excessive Speed Alarm’ in the vehicle beeping. It maybe acceptable locally to drive at excessive speeds but not when you are driving a tour bus. Both my wife and myself felt unsafe. Some of the other passengers also commented. Very disappointing.

An amazing day out in Khao Sok - not to be missed

My wife and I booked the Khao Lak Land Discovery Khao Sok Day Trip. This was a whole day tour and was fantastic. Our guide was Gift, who spoke perfect English and was absolutely delightful. Nothing was too hard and she was incredibly knowledgeable. We were picked up at our resort and first went to Takua Pa’s morning market. This was mainly a food market and Gift explained the different fruits and vegetables and then we had time to meander. Gift bought some sticky rice delicacies for us to have later. We then stopped at a waterfall which, unfortunately had no water. Not Gift’s fault! Then to an amazing viewpoint where you see across the valley to the mountains. Really spectacular. We then had one of the highlights. We visited en elephant sanctuary and went down to the river where we washed and scrubbed the elephant and fed the elephant bananas. It was interesting to see how such a large animal was so gentle, We had cold drinks and fresh fruit there as well.We stopped at the monkey temple. This was really interesting. The original temple was built in a massive cave and there were monkeys everywhere. We had lunch at the Rock and Treehouse Resort. Lunch was Thai style with Tom Yum Soup (a little milder for us westerners), Pad Thai and dishes with chicken and vegetables. Clearly freshly made and absolutely delicious. My wife is vegetarian and they made special food for her, including tofu. After lunch another highlight. We took a canoe trip down the Sok river. There were two people plus the guide/paddler in each canoe. The scenery was spectacular, with huge cliffs and wild jungle. We saw 2 snakes on the way. Half way we stopped for afternoon tea. The guides cut coffee cups from bamboo, including stirring spoons. They built a fire and made the coffee. We enjoyed the sticky rice delights which were - interesting. We finally returned to our resort at about 4.30pm. It was an amazing day and I strongly recommend this tour to anyone. The elephants and the canoe trip were amazing.

Great trip with kids

We did the Half day elephant visit, which we really enjoyed. Kids loved seeing the elephants so close and having the opportunity to swim/bath with them was amazing.Company also kindly took us too the Sea turtle conservation project in Khao Lak at no extra charge (aside from the entrance fee). Kids loved this too.Only negative was that we were in the bus for 1.5hours, picking up other guests and again to drop off guests. With small kids this was a long time, especially as we were only at the elephants for 1.5hrs.

This is a review of the...

This is a review of the Half Day Elephant Welfare Centre trip we booked through them, which is advertised in their brochure.Firstly, but least importantly, it isn't a half day. After loads of travel and picks ups etc, it is around an hour and a half there.More importantly, it is not a welfare centre. The elephants are ordered around a very small enclosure and respond to command. They look dead behind the eyes and are marched down to the steam to be washed by groups of tourists. They must have to do this multiple times a day. They are bread in captivity and you can make out their small cages in the distance. It's not good to see and I cannot understand how this contributes to their 'welfare'.We were naive, but it has made me realise I should not have contributed towards this industry and will never pay for any kind of animal interaction again.
