Ao Por Pier (Ao Po Grand Marina), Phuket

Ao Por Pier, officially called Ao Po Grand Marina, is located on Phuket’s north-east coast near the Sarasin Bridge. It is the island’s primary departure point for liveaboard dive expeditions — vessels heading to the Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock, the Surin Islands, and the Burma Banks use Ao Por as their base port. The marina also hosts private yacht charters and is a departure point for the high-speed ferry to Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai in Phang Nga Bay.

Transfer from Khao Lak to Ao Por Pier

Ao Por is approximately 100 km south of Khao Lak — a 100–120 minute drive via the Sarasin Bridge. Khao Lak Land Discovery offers private transfers to Ao Por Grand Marina from ฿2,700 one-way. Liveaboard Diving from Ao Por

Several of Thailand’s most reputable liveaboard operators — including MV Manta Queen, MV Dewi Nusantara, and others — dock at Ao Por. Multi-day expeditions to the Similan Islands (November–April) typically depart on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, returning 3–5 nights later. Divers staying in Khao Lak have a short transfer south to the marina compared with those travelling from central Phuket.
