About the Khao Lak → Khao Sok National Park drive

Khao Sok is the closest of these corridors — an easy inland run from the coast into ancient rainforest and limestone karst. We can drop you at a riverside lodge or the lake checkpoint for your boat.

A private Khao Lak to Khao Sok National Park transfer is one of the most scenic short drives in southern Thailand. The journey covers approximately 65 km and takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes depending on your lodge address in the Khao Sok valley.

Khao Sok is home to ancient rainforest and to Cheow Lan Lake, a dramatic flooded reservoir ringed by limestone karst peaks. Most visitors stay in floating raft houses on the lake or in jungle lodges along the Sok River. We serve all accommodation areas: the main park entrance village, the Cheow Lan Lake pier (Ratchaprapa Dam), and lodges along Route 401.

Jungle lodges vs lake raft houses

The Khao Sok village area (jungle lodges, treehouses, bungalows) is around 65 km from Khao Lak — a 1-hour drive. The Ratchaprapa Dam pier for the floating raft houses is a further 20 km into the park, adding another 20–25 minutes. If your accommodation is on the lake, book the Khao Lak to Ratchaprapa Dam transfer instead — that route goes directly to the pier where the raft-house boats depart.

Day trips from Khao Lak vs a stay

Most visitors choose between two approaches: a day trip from Khao Lak into Khao Sok (no transfer needed — our day tours include transport), or a multi-night stay at a jungle lodge or raft house. If you are staying overnight, a private transfer is the right choice — your luggage travels with you and the driver drops you at your lodge door.
