Advertised as a 3 hour event in reality trekking lasted 15/20 mins and bathing 15 mins. An interesting and expensive experience. We Treked through brush ( make sure you use insect repellant) bought baskets of banana and pineapple peels and then back to the mini bus and taken to the bathing pool which was relaxed and clearly enjoyable to the elephants. The English speaking guide showed utube clips of elephants cycling really in poor taste.

My family (hubbie and two boys aged 3 and 5) did the half day Khao Lak Nature Tour and we loved it and highly recommend it. The guide was so friendly, the tour was professionally organised, we arrived at the elephant safari and went off with two elephants on a safari trek. The boys loved it and so did my husband and I, it was a lot of fun and a once in a lifetime adventurous excursion we all did together. We then got to feed them a bucket of bananas, take photos, have a little rest/ice creams/drinks/pineapple at the little café. We then moved on to view the turtles in the conservation centre which was educational and then went to a really nice outdoor restaurant for lunch (organised through the tour and included in the price). The food was really delicious, and we were just a small group, not a huge throng of people. I highly recommend this excursion, we all had a lot of fun, and came home with some photos and great memories.

Sehr zu empfehlen. Wir hatten den Flughafentransfer aus Deutschland über das Internet gebucht, klappte alles bestens. Dann in Khao Lak noch 3 weitere Ausflüge, die alle wirklich sehr gut und professionell organisiert sind.

Bereits vor der Reise habe ich einige Tagestouren via eMail gebucht, was wunderbar funktionierte. Der Kontakt mit Isi war super freundlich und hilfsbereit.Erster Ausflug - Khao Sok TagestourAbholung im Hotel wie vereinbart um 7:50 was leider 10 min zu spät war. Im Nachhinein stellte sich heraus, das alle Touren um +/- 10 min Differenz zu den mir mittgeteilten Uhrzeiten hatte. Naja kein Problem. Unser Guide war Erich, der diesen Tag in vollem Umfang schön und interessant gestaltet hatte. Sein Wissen scheint unerschöpflich, egal ob Kultur oder Naturwelt. Erich konnte uns zu allem umfassend informieren und begeistern. Am Rande des Khao Soks angekommen verließen wir den Bus und stiegen um auf ein Kajak, welches uns den Fluss hinab befördern sollte. Saisonbedingt hatte der Fluss leider wenig Wasser, bietet aber größtenteils eine schöne Kulisse. Ganz wichtig; wer meint er würde hier in abgeschiedener Natur ein bischen paddeln ist völlig falsch. Der Eindruck, dem einen das Werbeprospekt vermittel ist völlig falsch. Schaut man hinter die naturbelassenen Bäume am Flussufer, wird man schnell auf die unzähligen Palmöl- oder Kautschuckplantagen aufmerksam. Außer Schlangen, Fröschen und Fischen haben wir während der Fahrt nicht viel von der Tierwelt mitbekommen. Spätestens während des letzten Drittels der Fahrt wird auch jedem ganz klar warum. Direkt über den Fluss führt eine dicke PKW-Brücke, die so garnicht ins Bild passt und Zerstörung und Rodung der Wälder entgültig offen legt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war ich etwas enttäuscht. Allerdings zeigt sich hier die Qualität eines guten Guides. Erich konnte wunderbar aufklären, Fragen beantworten und diskutieren. Egal ob Umweltproblematik, Tier- und Planzenwelt oder menschliche Profitgeilheit. Als Naturliebhaber möchte ich die schonungslose Wahrheit erfahren. So will und muss ich Erich ein dickes Lob aussprechen.Nächster Stop war kurz vor dem Eingang in den Nationalpark. Wer später einmal dorthin reisen möchte kann sich einen wunderbaren Eindruck verschaffen. Anschließend Mittagessen und Elefantentrekking.Zum Elefantentrekking gibt es viele Meinungen. Ich persönlich war einem so großen Tier noch nie so Nahe und so wollte ich es einmal erlebt haben. Ich denke das Leben als Trekkingelefant ist angenehmer als ein Arbeitselefant, der unter Einsatz von Drogen unzählige Stunden ohne Pause arbeiten muss. Leider gibt es viele ganz dumme Deutsche Touristen die tatsächlich die Vorstellung besitzen, es würde ein wilder Elefant im Regenwald mit dem Lasso gefangen und dann ab auf Trekkingtour.Am Ende des Tages muss ich sagen. Super, schonungslose Erfahrung in einer, abgesehen von den Plantagen atemberaubenden Kulisse. Erich bekommt von mir die 1+ mit Stern. Ich habe bereits die halbe Welt bereist, bin aber noch nie auf einen derart authentischen und ehrlichen Tourguide getroffen. Erich, auf diesem Wege vielen Dank - ich hoffe wir sehen uns irgendwann wieder! Mach weiter so!Zweiter Ausflug - TempeltourAbholung 8:50 lt. eMail - Tatsächlich stand unser Guide, der "Tigerman" samt Fahrer "Chickenman" schon um 8:40 vor dem Hotel. Die Tempel waren allesamt super interessant, auch das Mittagessen in einem Restaurant oberhalb eines Flusslaufes super schön. Leider war es eine insgesamt sehr gestresste Athmosphäre und so war der Ausflug auch schon um 14:20 beendet. Ankunft im Hotel 15:30. Die Gruppe war total nett und eine gute Mischung aus Jung und Alt, jedoch waren wir alle der Meinung einen Tagesausflug gebucht zu haben. Sorry Jungs, hier verarscht ihr die armen Touris gewaltig. Das war mehr Gehetze als Sightseeing. 1900 Baht - Abzocke.Dritter Ausflug - Similan SchnorcheltourAusnahmsweise pünktliche Abholung, allerding auch nur, weil ich mich persönlich im Büro vergewissert habe, wann es tatsächlich los geht. Nach einer 40 minütigen Fahrt erreichten wir das Pier. Als ich die Menschenmassen sah dachte ich nur. "Kleine Gruppen - max 12 Personen" hahaha das ich nicht lache. Zu allem Glück traf ich hier auf einen Guide, der das krasse Gegenteil von Erich war. Ich möchte niemand schlecht reden und deshalb verzichte ich hier auf den Namen. Auf feinstem Ruhrpottslang nahm er uns die Kohle am Pier ab und gab kleinere Anweisungen was während der Tagestour zu tun und zu lassen sei. Angekommen auf Similan 8 - Raucherpause - danach erster Kontakt mit dem Wasser hinter der Insel. Leute ganz ehrlich, ich hab noch nirgends auf der Welt erlebt, das Touristen so dermaßen verarscht werden. Zerstörte Riffe, eine handvoll Fische (die zudem noch angefüttert werden) - das wars. Enttäuschung pur. 2 Schnorchelgang: Hier sollten wir Schildkröten sehen. Ja, haben wir auch gesehen. Vom Futter angelockt konnte man die Tiere fast berühren. Das Schildkröten auch zubeisen können fand unser Guide nicht erwähnenswert. Ganz ehrlich, ich verteile gerne Lob, wenn es derjenige auch verdient bzw. sich bemüht zeigt. Aber das... die größte Verarsche mit dem unqualifiertesten Guide den ich jemals erlebt hatte. Der hätte mal besser Karriere in einem Stummfilm gemacht. Insgesamt war ich 25 Minuten im Wasser, 2 1/2 Std. Speedbootfahrt, überfüllte Buchten mit Chinesenbooten und eine zerstörte Natur, die ich am liebsten nie gesehen hätte. Das man hierfür den Touris weit über 3000 Baht abknöpft unglaublich. Ach ja, ein Thai Namens "M" oder "EM" macht Videos und Bilder, das man am Ende des Tages für Sage und Schreibe 1600 Baht kaufen kann. Ich lach mich schlapp wer dieses kauft. "M" tut mir leid. Ein super super freundlicher liebenswürdiger Thai, der mit Sicherheit, würde er Deutsch sprechen, ein viel viel besserer Guide wäre. Auch die ganz Crew des Speedboots war hervorragend. Ich habe mich aufgeregt. Über den Guide, die Zerstörung, ja auch das Geld, aber das schlimmste: Ich habe hier einen Tag verloren an dem ich besser am Strand, im Pool oder gleich ganz weitergereist wäre.Vierter Ausflug - Phang Nga James Bond IslandWieder mit dem "Tigerman" und dem "Chickenman" ab Richtung Phang Nga. Schöne Kulisse, super Eindruck und Ablauf und Gestaltung Ausnahmsweise wie im Programm ausgeschrieben. Leider auch eher ein Halbtagesausflug, weil "Tigerman" noch zur Dialyse ins Krankenhaus musst, wie er mir erzählt hatte. Whooopa, ach egal ich bin ja nur der dumme Touri.So, Khao Lak Land Diskovery. Ihr seid zuverlässig, vermittelt einen professionellen Eindruck, aber letztendlich seit ihr mit 3 Sternen von mir noch sehr gut bedient. Sollte ich wieder kommen, hätte ich gerne einen Gratisausflug auf die Surin-Inseln, als Entschädigung für die Halbtagestouren und den unprofessionellen Guide der die Similan-Tour macht.

We did four trips with Khao Lak Land Discovery.Koh Tachai 01/04/15 – this was our first trip and a bit of a taster as we were worried about sea sickness. We need not have worried as we both took Sturgeon and it worked perfectly. An amazing trip overall. Early start to the companies’ own pier, then a short wait while the last passengers arrived. We were offered food and drink and they have great toilet facilities here.The boat took about 1H15 to get to Koh Tachai and we were the first on the beach, so had it to ourselves for quite a while. A real bonus. Then a quite tour through the forest on a circular track to see any wildlife such as chicken crabs and monitor lizards and if you are luck a nicobar pigeon.Then we were given an option to stay on the beach or go to the first snorkel session. We came to snorkel so were went. Visibility was good and once again the first boat there so brilliant.Saw loads of fish, octopus, lobster and a reef shark.Back to the island for lunch, which was cooked by the island staff – good food and lots of it.After lunch we walked to a view point on the other side of the island, worth the walk as we were alone for a lot of it. Then a 1pm pick up went wrong as I think the captain of the boat fell asleep – this moved to 2:30pm when he woke up! Funny in hindsight and at least we were on a beautiful island!Second snorkel was just as good, bit more crowded as we were late! Then one more stop at a sandbank on the way back. Overall a brilliant day out, the guide was good and spoke both German and English in equal measure without any concern.Khao Sok – Tree & Rock House and Boathouse 03/04/15 – 05/04/15.The highlight of our holiday. Day one was a decent time pick up by Julie and Sophon. Both these people are a credit to the organisation and made our tour. Elephant rides, lunch and check in at the tree house, canoe rides and trips to supermarkets to stock up.Throughout the day Julie gave us information about Thailand and it’s history and nature as well as handy hints such as putting electrolytes in the water. The Treehouse was an amazing experience we had room 8 which was one of the best as it was at the back and had great outlooks across the forest.We saw many bats coming out the caves and a squirrel type animal several times. Food was great with lunch being a particular favourite of my wife.In the free afternoon we walked to the temple down the road and fed the monkeys with peanuts and bananas. As with feeding any wild animal – be very careful and watch your kids, especially with bananas. We also walked down to the river, but as it was dry season and a very dry season it was very low. And night was coming with the mosquitoes!Day two we went on a rather tame jungle walk, but it ended up at a nice waterfall which you can climb if you have a head for heights, more so on the way down.Then a jungle BBQ, with rice and chicken cooked on the BBQ in an interesting way, as well as other Thai dishes. After lunch the other people in our party returned to their hotels as they were scared by the night on the boathouse!We went back to the Treehouse for a quick shower that Julie arranged for us and then we drove off to the Lake. Wow, just wow! If you can do this trip do it! Or even just the boathouse or the day trip! We loved in there and would return in an instant.The boathouse was amazing, basic with two mattress on the floor, but had it’s own internal toilet! A bonus. (Smiley Lakehouse). It was well run and the food was the best food we had on the whole holiday! A great afternoon spent swimming and canoeing and then a sundown boat ride where we saw hornbills – also just wow!No aircon so was warm, but a 6am canoe to watch the sun come up and then a swim followed by an amazing breakfast made it all worthwhile.Off on a early morning jungle walk, early was best as you heard all the noises of gibbons etc in the jungle. Although the route is well treaded it was fun and good to be out of the sun. Ended in a cave, with cave spiders and loads of bats! You can go through, but we did not.Back to a different boathouse for lunch. The Smiley Boathouse had 12 houses and was quiet and peaceful. This one had 40+ houses and catered more for the backpacking scene, so was noisy and busy. But lunch was okay. Great to swim off and relax.Then we travelled back to Khao Lak.Best time ever! Thanks Julie and Sophon.Phang Nga Bay with Sea Canoe. 08/04/15An easier trip with a decent pick up time. About an hour to the dock in Phang Nga, followed by an hour to the sea canoe. Dock at big ferry type boats and then canoe though caves and around some Karsks. Fun time, spoilt a bit by being asked for a tip, but not really an issue.Then on to James Bond Island, which is very scenic, but very busy! Worth it though and got some good photos.Lunch was at Koh Panyee – the food and service was great and interesting to wonder around the “island”.Back home via the mangrove.Similain Islands 09/04/15Early pick up and transport to the same pier as Koh Tachai. Similar briefing, but as the only English speaking family we did feel a bit left out as most of the information given was in German and then one sentence in English. So most of the time we did our own thing and just found out the times we needed to be back at the boat.1H15 to our first stop at “Donald Duck” Bay, Wow and Amazing all in one! Scenic and white so white sand. Walked up to the rock and as we were early we were virtually alone!Then a short swim in the sea and then off to first snorkel stop. It turns out that they did not have enough flippers – bad organisation as they knew how many people were coming – I was annoyed as I had my own, but after the Koh Tachai trip I thought I would not bring them as they had loads!Finally found a pair stuck in the corner. Once again when handing them out it was only in German so we did not know the sizes so could not get any.The snorkelling was great, better than Koh Tachai, visibility was better and we saw much more.Off to lunch, we were offered a choice between a deserted beach or the naval area which would be busy, up to us, to tell the guide later. But when it came to it there was no choice – we went to the busy spot. The food was food bought with on the boat so was not very warm, but it was okay, worst food we ate on the whole holiday though. Disappointing after seeing what they could do on a boat house in the middle of nowhere.Second snorkel session made up for it all though as we dived with Sea Turtles – what an experience. First boat there again. Which was brilliant.1H20 back, got a bit rougher, but the captain tried his best to make it less rough.18H00 back at hotel – loads of drop offs!I would recommend all four trips that we did. They were all worth it. But I would triple recommend the Khao Sok trip with Julie! Thanks you helped make our holiday!
