We did the half day elephant tour with Khao Lak Land discovery. It was fantastic. We were picked up right on time and bathing with the elephants was a huge thrill. Our guide Chon was informative and funny. The lunch was delicious - our tour group of 11 were the only ones there. After lunch we went for a walk to a waterfall but unfortunately there wasn't much water. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lady outside the restaurant charging for photos with Slow lorises - not sure if this was organised by the tour company though or if she just frequents the restaurant.
Staying at Khao Lak, we took the Phang Nga Bay Discovery tour. Forget your speedboats!!! A small group of 11, our tour guide Volker, a German man now a resident, gave us a great insight into Thailand, the people, the culture & the religion. His passion was astounding. All round fabulous trip on long tail boat to sea canoes, James Bond Island & fantastic lunch & tour at the sea gypsies village. However, could have missed the monkey temple on the return trip. All in all, we enjoyed the whole day. Thank you Volker!

Island tour and snorkeling.
The tour started early for us as we had a 1.5 hour trip to get to the tour starting point. It was well worth it. Hopped on a speedboat for an hour to get to the first island which was phi phi island here we stayed for around 45 minutes, it was breath takingly beautiful. You can go up to a small viewing point. There are toilets and a snack bar here too. Back on the boat for a short time to the next stop where we did some snorkeling which was amazing, we saw so many types of fish and even a turtle! We continued to the other islands for a short time and by 12pm we came to our last island to stop for lunch and a 2 hour free time to spend on the beach and swimming in the sea. The guides spoke very good English and were happy and laughing the whole day through. They were very helpful giving us information and with putting our snorkeling gear on. Would definitely recommend it. A great day out! Take lots of suncream though!!
After extensive research, we decided that one of our holiday's 2 full-day tours would be the Hong Island Explorer with Khao Lak Land Discovery. I really liked how the trip was planned, the low number of people per trip (12) and the early rise which allowed us not only to visit these beautiful islands, but also to beat the crowds. The higher price was totally worth it!After a somewhat difficult online communication previous our trip (got an answer to my 2 emails only after sending a reminder each after 4-5 days of the initial one), everything went smoothly and I recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing the amazing caves and islands that you can barely squeeze into. Our tour-guide Oly (sorry if spelling is incorrect) was a blast! Funny and informative, easy to engage with, always careful with us, explaining what we were seeing. We had an early hotel pick-up, got on the beautiful traditional wood tail-boat, saw the sunrise while sailing along the mangrove forest which later opened to the amazing Phang Nga Bay. There we visited 3 islands and 1 cave, a sea-gypsy village on stilts where we had lunch and bought some souvenirs. Oly told us the places to avoid because of overpriced items and where we could buy the same at reasonable prices. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a waterfall to cool our feet. Throughout the trip, cold refreshments were made available, which was a must once the sun got up on the sky.Next time we go back, we'll definitely try another trip with Discovery!
Lovely elephant trip
