A private Khao Lak to Ratchaprapa Dam transfer is the dedicated route to the floating raft-house accommodation on Cheow Lan Lake, deep inside Khao Sok National Park. The drive covers approximately 90 km and takes around 1 hour 30 minutes to the dam pier, where raft-house boats collect guests and ferry them out onto the lake.

Ratchaprapa Dam (also called Cheow Lan Dam) is where the tarmac road ends and the lake begins. All raft houses, floating bungalows, and jungle camps on Cheow Lan Lake are accessible only by long-tail boat from this pier. The standard lake transfer boat is included in most raft-house bookings; our transfer gets you to the pier on time for your boat departure.

Raft-house boat schedule

Raft-house boats collect guests from Ratchaprapa Pier at set times — typically 09:00, 11:30, and 14:00, though schedules vary by operator. A late arrival at the pier means waiting for the next boat. We recommend departing your Khao Lak hotel by 07:00 for a 09:00 boat or by 09:30 for an 11:30 boat to build in time for stops and any traffic on the 401 through Khao Sok village.

Khao Sok village vs the dam pier

Khao Sok village (jungle lodges, treehouses) is 20 km before the dam pier along Route 401. If your accommodation is in the village, book the Khao Lak to Khao Sok transfer (฿2,500) instead — that stops in the village. This transfer goes past the village to the dam pier, which is the correct drop-off only for raft houses on the lake.
