James Bond – Phang Nga

Explore the stunning nature of Phang Nga Bay… Learn more about ancient civilizations, the amazing nature and witness the astonishing scenery. Experience the unique caves that are hidden amongst the beautiful limestone cliffs.

Canoeing with guide around Phang Nga Bay Bay Tour

We start our journey on the water the traditional way – by one of the beautiful decorated Thai longtail boats. We will drive along the green mangrove jungle, which is amongst others habitat of lizards, snakes, monkeys and different bird species.

Passing by a fascinating karst landscape we will reach the worldwide famous James Bond Island, from which you will have the perfect view on the most popular limestone of that area. Ko Tapu, the James Bond Rock, is a common tourist attraction since the release of the movie “The Man with the Golden Gun” with Roger Moore as British secret agent 007.

After a quick stop we will move to a canoe station. There you can lay back and enjoy nature, while an experienced paddle guide will take care of you. He will take you close to hundreds of year old stone formations, to caves and mangroves.
We will continue our tour by visiting a fishing village build on pillars in the water.

The sea nomads living here will warmly welcome you to some tasty Thai lunch. Full and satisfied you can take a short walk to discover the village and culture of the inhabitants. You might also find some nice souvenirs for yourself, family or friends.

Sometimes you can also see wild monkeys there.

Be careful, they love to steal a tourist’s food.

General Information about Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage and has geologically similar features to Vietnamese Halong Bay. Limestone rocks are evidence of long past coral reefs. And through ebb and flow caves and grottes have been eroded. Nowadays one has access by canoe, finding a world of bizarre limestone carsts, dolines and a vegetation searching for hold along the cliffs. Altogether the national park (1981) includes 42 islands with a total area of about 401km². The water at Phang Nga Bay is just a few meters deep and comparatively calm.

Moreover, world-famous Koh Panyee, a 300-year-old fishing village build on stilts, can be found close to a marine needle in the middle of the sea. About 2000 people call it their home. Ko Tapu is the most famous rock, better known as James Bond Rock. It became famous due to the movie “The man with the golden colt” with Roger Moore as 007.
